Leaders of Tomorrow

Building Inclusive Youth Leadership Programs

"During my time in the program, I became aware of things that I didn't know before and didn't think much of. And this has helped me when interacting with others and learning other things.”

Leaders of Tomorrow (LoT) is a leadership program created by IEL with a curriculum co-designed by immigrant and refugee youth. The LoT program is designed to help immigrant and refugee youth develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to participate in decision-making processes and structures to improve their own lives, as well as the lives of others in their communities. Through the program, youth are equipped to become leaders and agents of change, while also promoting equity and social justice for all children, youth, adults, and families.

Our Guiding Principles:

  • Empowering Immigrant and Refugee Youth
  • Fostering Leadership and Change Agents
  • Promoting Equity and Social Justice for All

Nurturing the potential of immigrant and refugee youth, we can collectively shape a more equitable and inclusive tomorrow. Your involvement will be instrumental in achieving this vision.

Our Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Leadership Learning Series

We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new professional development opportunity for youth-serving staff based on IEL’s Leaders of Tomorrow program.

Over the next two years, IEL will be piloting a 4-part Youth Leadership Learning Series designed to equip youth-serving professionals with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to effectively support and empower immigrant and refugee youth in youth leadership and civic engagement. At the completion of each 8-week course, participants will receive a micro-credential documenting your achievement. This initiative represents a crucial expansion of our efforts, and we are eager to invite you to be part of this transformative journey.

Course 1: Youth Leadership
The first course in the series, focusing on “Youth Leadership,” will kick off from February to March of 2024. This immersive program will provide participants with peer learning opportunities, coaching, and exposure to a range of approaches that support the unique needs of emerging youth leaders within immigrant and refugee communities.
