Omega Community Development Corporation; Omega Baptist Church

Reverend Vanessa Oliver Ward is the President of the Omega Community Development Corporation (Omega CDC) and Pastor Emerita of the Omega Baptist Church. As President of the Omega CDC, she oversees the organization’s mission of breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty by catalyzing change in Northwest Dayton. Under her leadership, the Omega CDC has served as co-developer with MVAH in the construction of a $13 million 81-unit affordable senior housing facility, the Omega Senior Lofts, and as the developer for the construction of a $11 million Hope Center for Families, which focuses on two-generational whole family wellness in Northwest Dayton. Partners of the Hope Center for Families include Dayton Children’s Hospital, Sinclair Community College, Mini University, and Omega CDC. Omega CDC was awarded a $28.7M Promise Neighborhood Grant from the U.S. Department of Education, which will catalyze the work Omega CDC has led, driving improved educational and social outcomes for children and families across 17 neighborhoods.
