Maddy joined IEL in 2024 as a Program Associate and currently works on Everyone: An Advocate, The Ready to Achieve Mentoring Program (RAMP), and IEL’s policy efforts, bringing her commitment to educational access and equity.
Prior to joining IEL, Maddy gained valuable experience working as an equity-focused educator, student organizer, and public servant. She interned with the Office of Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui through the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS), served as a Program Specialist with Asian American LEAD (AALEAD), and worked as a Program Assistant with the U.S. Pan Asian Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (USPAACC), where she developed her skills in educational program management, federal policy, and communications.
Maddy is a proud second-generation Korean Thai Chinese American, born and raised in Bergen County, New Jersey. She is currently completing her Master’s in Political Communications at American University through their Combined B.A./M.A. program, having graduated with her Bachelor’s in Political Science and Asian, Pacific, & Diaspora Studies in December 2023. Driven by a passion for uplifting underrepresented voices, she aims to leverage her skills in policy advocacy and program management to create meaningful change at IEL.
