Dr. Trinisia Brooks

Dr. Trinisia Brooks is a Culturally Responsive-Trauma Informed Practitioner. Her doctoral research focuses on racialized exclusionary practices and structural inequities in schools and communities. She has experience working in P-12 education both at the school and district level. Her approach is founded on an asset-based framework that values the experiences people bring to the table. She serves on many boards in the community both local and nationally recognized and at the grassroots level to include but not limited to Mental Health Matters Evansville, International Welcome Center, AndHowAreTheChildren Evansville, Human Relations Commission, Big Brother Big Sister, YWCA, and the Evansville Public Library Foundation. Her research supports engaging families in education as an important strategy to student achievement in reducing the opportunity gap (Ladson-Billings, 2006). She strongly believes eradicating structural disparities in underserved communities occurs by addressing the root causes through healing-centered engagement, collaborative efforts, amplifying voices, and by way of culturally proficient partnerships.
