Position Description - Administrative Program Associate

Position Responsibilities

IEL is home to programs that build capacity of equity-focused leaders through various networks and professional learning experiences. The administrative program associate will support several programs specific to educational leadership development (inclusive of the Education Policy Fellowship Program), educational policy, disability, workforce development, and other programs as needed. The role will support communications (written and phone), logistics support for meetings and events (ranging from small internal meetings to large external conferences), and administrative tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Organized: Ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments and pay attention to details
  • Strong communication skills: Communicate effectively to both internal and external audiences, customer-service orientation, and professional communicator
  • Multi-tasking: Flexibility in a fast-paced environment; experience receiving request from multiple people and the ability to juggle and prioritize those requests appropriately
  • Self-motivated: Ability to be a self-starter and work independently; manages own time effectively, maintains control over all projects/responsibilities and follows up on all relevant issues
  • Accessibility-minded: Understanding of how to provide full access for all internal staff and external partners in meetings and events for participants with disabilities
  • Collaborative: Strong relationship-builder, collaborator, experience with outreach activities preferred
  • Data-focused: Comfortable inputting, tracking, and using data
  • Equity-focused: Interest in equity in all sectors including education, public policy, disability policy, workforce/employment and non-profit management
  • Confidentiality: Experienced in handling confidential and sensitive information in an office environment

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software required.
  • Familiarity with database and online content management software strongly preferred.
  • Professional social media content and strategy experience (including Facebook and Twitter) strongly preferred, graphic design a plus.
  • Experience with managing vendors, processing invoices and reimbursements strongly preferred.
  • Meeting and conference support experience required.
  • Experience coordinating accommodations for people with disabilities preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range is $47,500-$60,000 based on experience with comprehensive health, dental, retirement, education and professional development, and life insurance benefits.

Duty Station

IEL is a Washington-based organization. This position is based at IEL’s D.C. office. This position reports to the Vice President for Research and Innovation, Dr. Helen Malone.

Start date

Flexible but between August 12-21, 2019
