IEL announced C. Kent McGuire, president of the Southern Education Foundation, as the ninth chair of the organization’s board of directors. McGuire succeeds S. Decker Anstrom, who will remain a member of the board.
Last week Jamie Kendall died; she was a longtime friend of IEL. Most recently, Kendall was acting director of the Independent Living Administration at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Today, IEL launched the second year of the DC Youth Workforce Leaders Academy (YWLA) in collaboration with the Greater Washington Workforce Development Collaborative and the DC Alliance of Youth Advocates.
On October 30, the American Educational Research Association and IEL are hosting an educational policy luncheon featuring Brenda J. Turnbull and Lynda Tredway in a session on preparing and supporting school principals.
In recognition of the opportunities provided by the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), IEL is collecting stories from youth and adults who have been personally impacted by IDEA.
