IEL Staff Interviewed for Series on Women in Education Leadershp

Esteem Journal recently interviewed IEL’s Helen Janc Malone as part of a yearlong series on the public scholarship of women in educational leadership.

Esteem Journal recently interviewed Helen Janc Malone, IEL’s director of institutional advancement and national director of IEL’s Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP). The interview was the third installment in Esteem‘s yearlong series on the public scholarship of women in educational leadership. In the interview, Malone discusses her early interest in education policy; education equity, access, and quality; EPFP; and women in education leadership. She highlights the importance of building strong school-community partnerships, one of the tenets of IEL’s Coalition for Community Schools. She also extols the value of social media, particularly Twitter, in supporting women in education leadership, as well as EPFP fellows and alumni.

Malone earned a B.S. in political science from Towson University, M.A. in higher education policy and leadership from University of Maryland, College Park, and an Ed.M. and Ed.D. in education policy, leadership, and instructional practice from Harvard University.
