From June 22-24, IEL will host its second annual National Family Engagement Conference in Chicago, Ill. IEL just released a select list of workshop presenters. These workshops are in line with this year’s theme, Shaping Our Future by Leading Together: Families, Schools, and Communities. The conference will bring together an array of family engagement leaders, including family liaisons, teachers, school and district administrators, parent advocates, and community stakeholders.
Conference participants will be able to choose from 70 workshops sessions focused on examples of high-impact, evidence-based family and community engagement strategies from across the country. A few organizations confirmed to present include:
- Annenberg Institute for School Reform
- Be Strong Families
- Families in Schools
- Logan Square Neighborhood Association
- National PTA
- Statewide Parent Advocacy Network
- Teaching for Change
- The Parent Teacher Home Visit Project
- U.S. Department of Education
This year’s conference will address the distinct need to collaborate across organizations and sectors to create and sustain a system of family-school partnerships. The conference reflects a core belief guiding IEL’s family and community engagement work: building the capacity of adults is the key to success and better outcomes for children, youth, and their families.
